GIRLS DIVISION FINAL

SPARX 15, SHOCK 4

In a defensive battle Saturday, the Sparx were able to cash in turnovers for points while capturing the 3rd Girls League Championship 15-4.

With the score 6-2 entering the final eight minutes, the Sparx pressured the ball as Carly Wolf, the Shock's best ball handler, had to sit her minimum six minutes.  By the time she re-entered the game, the Sparx had taken an eight point lead, 10-2.  Jamie Lederman made the next basket for the Shock, giving them some hope at 10-4.  But the Sparx scored the next five points off of turnovers and took the victory.

Zoe Schmerin, held scoreless for most of the game, finished with six points.  Molly Sovran scored eight points and Sarah Johnson added a free-throw late in the game.

Leah Cohen scored the Shock's other basket, while Olivia Sarvis played her best game with six rebounds and two blocks.

ROOKIE  DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

TROJANS 14, BLUE DEVILS 10

Tommy MacLean had his best game of the season, scoring inside and outside as the Trojans won the Championship of the Rookie League.

MacLean scored the first six points of the game for the Trojans.  But the Blue Devils responded with big baskets from Jason Ernst and Jacob Bayer.

The Trojans began to dominate the paint on bothe ends of the floor.  Quinn Richter and Brandon Solomon gathered in 14 rebounds together and blocked several Blue Devil shots.

Richter and Josh Kraft also scored for the Trojans.  The Blue Devils were paced with six points from Jason Ernst while his bother Matt Ernst scored two.

PRO DIVISION OVERTIME

SPURS 25, PISTONS 25 (OT)

The Pistons scored five points in the first half, rallied with 20 points in the second and went scoreless in OT to tie the Spurs at 25-25 in the regular season finale Saturday at Covington.

After trailing by as much as 11 in the first half, he Pistons went on a 14-2 run late in the second half and took a three point lead.  That lead held true until the last seven seconds of the game when Michael Doney pushed the ball down court and pulled up for a three.  That tied the score and finished the scoring at 25.

The Pistons could have won the game from the free throw stripe late in the game, but Kyle Clemmons andHarry Singer missed from the line in the last minute and Nicholas Francis missed in OT.  From the FT Line, The Pistons went 11-20 for the game while the spurs went 2-6.

At halftime, Piston Coach Jeff Clemmons was honored for his induction into the AlphaWolf Coaches Hall of Fame.  He clearly exceeded the requirements of being inducted as he coached in every division (11 years), won at least one championship (1999, 2003, 2004) and represented AlphaWolf with class and integrity.  Coach Clemmons is the second coach to be inducted into the "Hall" as he joins Bruce Tennen.  Tennen was inducted in March 2007.
