Pistons Academy Coach Dan Thomas will be hosting a free skills clinic at 3pm this Sunday, November 24, at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield. This one hour skills clinic is open for boys and girls, ages 5-14.
“Dan is our lead instructor for the Pistons Academy and is passionate about teaching the game the right way,” says Detroit Pistons Director of Fan Development, Geo Thomas, “This is a great opportunity to reach some young players and give them a quick sample of what Detroit Basketball is all about.”
Coach Dan Thomas played collegiate basketball at Rochester College and earned a spot on the D1 National All-Academic Team in 2012. Dan is also a member of the Pistons Dunk Team, “Flight Crew” and has performed all across the globe including New York and London. He is known for elevating to record heights on his dunks, thus earning the nickname “Elevata.”
Dan is currently working with the Pistons Academy and is their lead instructor for summer camps. “This event is exactly waht I’m looking for,” said Dan, “I want the kids to experience basketball on a fun and challenging environment. This Sunday should be a great time!”
