The Pistons Academy Tour Stop in South Lyon has been a huge success and the 40 kids attending are making this camp something special.
“I see alot of team play and leadership,” Said Pistons Academy Head Coach Aaron Smith, “The kids are working hard and playing basketball the right way!”
The day started with the skills combine where all campers were put through the same drills as the NBA Rookies. One of the most notable stats taken was the vertical leap test where soon-to-be 9th grader Rashan Willis jumped “off-the-chart” with a 25″ vertical jump. “I think its probably more like 28 or 29 inches but the machine only went up to 25,” said Pistons Academy instructor Emmett Dacey.
There were several other notable performances at camp, including the fearless play of Brianna Carr. She is the only girl playing in the Blue Division but she is definately holding her own. Brianna plays great defense and is one of her team’s most reliable passers. Also playing well is her teammate Brendan Field who leads the Division in assists and is second in rebounds.
In the Red Division, Trey Augustine is quietly having a sensational camp. “Trey works very hard and really shows great leadership on the court,” says Red Division Commissioner Carly Wolf, “He always gets his teammates involved!”
